Numerical Modelling of Traffic Induced Vibrations in Buildings Based on a Dynamic Soil-structure Interaction Formulation

چکیده
ABSTRACT A numerical prediction model for road traffic induced vibrations is developed. Dynamic soilstructure interaction at the source and the structure is accounted for. The first objective is to present the essential elements of the numerical prediction model. Secondly, experimental data will be used for the validation of the numerical model. Therefore, vibration measurements in and near a single family dwelling are performed during the passage of a truck at different speeds on an uneven concrete road with joints and on an artificial profile. The third objective is to present the ongoing research in the modelling of the single family dwelling.

Wave propagation in the soil: theoretical background and application to traffic induced vibrations
This paper reviews the direct stiffness method for the calculation of harmonic and transient wave propagation in horizontally layered media. Developed in the early eighties by Kausel and Roësset, this method has become a standard tool for the computation of the Green’s functions in layered media. As it is based on a superposition of plane harmonic waves in the frequency-wavenumber domain, it is...
متن کاملA numerical model for ground-borne vibrations and re- radiated noise in buildings from underground railways
An efficient and modular numerical prediction model is presented to predict vibrations and re-radiated noise in buildings due to metro trains. The approach comprises of three weakly coupled problems: the dynamic vehicle-track-tunnel-soil interaction problem, the dynamic soil-structure interaction problem and the calculation of the acoustic response inside the rooms. The three-dimensional dynami...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Study of Soil-structure Interaction in Structures Resting on Loose Soil Using Laminar Shear Box
In the present work, the effect of Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) in low frequency structures resting on loose soil, through numerical modelling and shaking table tests have been studied. In theoretical studies two types of models namely fixed base and flexible base structure were subjected to three selected earthquake records. Nonlinear dynamic analysis was employed for all of the numerical ...
متن کاملVibrations and re-radiated noise in buildings generated by surface high-speed train traffic
This paper deals with the numerical computation of the structural and acoustic response of a building to an incoming wave field generated by high-speed railway traffic at grade. The source model consists of the model of a moving vehicle on a longitudinally invariant domain coupled to a boundary element model of the underlying ground. The receiver model is based on a substructuring formulation a...
متن کاملAnalysis of Structural Vibrations due to Passage of Underground Trains
During the last decades, the railway traffic in densely populated areas has increased. At the same time, passenger trains have become faster and freight trains have become heavier. Consequently, trains are an increasing source of ground vibration, which may be a nuisance to people, buildings and sensitive equipment. In this research, a two-dimensional dynamic system, including underground train...
